ue - Chapter 1

Chapter 1

On a normal day around the middle of August Alissa
Thompson was on the internet checking her e-mail for the
Backstreet Girl website that she and four other friends
had started up that summer. They had the usual awesome
pics and details about the Backstreet Boys and an "About
Us" page where the five girls talked about themselves,
and their own musical abilities. They had even included
a special sound clip of them singing a capella to "Baby
I'm Yours" a song the Backstreet Boys themselves had
used when they were just starting out.
Lissa had just expected to get e-mail from the usual
bunch of girls who kept bugging them for more info on
the boys, but this time it was a little different.
"Nobody interesting ever writes us," Alissa said as
she scrolled down the screen glancing at the names of
many hormone-crazed teenagers.
Alissa stopped scrolling and stared at the screen in
disbelief, "Holy $#!*! It's the Backstreet Boys!" she
said excitedly.
She opened the letter and read it out loud even though
she was home alone.
"Hey girls wazzup? We were surfing the net and we came
across your website and decided to check it out. We were
mainly interested in the "About Us" page, we heard your
sound clip and Brian and I couldn't believe it! You guys
sounded great!! Me and the guys should be up in Halifax
in a couple of days and we'd love to meet you.
Nick
Keep the Backstreet pride alive"
Lissa took her hand off the mouse and put it over her
mouth in disbelief, "Omigod! Nick wrote me? Omigod!" she
said hardly believing a word she had read, "Ok calm
down, calm down, I've gotta write back."
Alissa hit the reply button and her small fingers
clumsily fumbled over the keys.
"Hey Nick... It's Alissa, from the Backstreet Girls. I
read your e-mail and we'd love 2 meet u 2. I haven't
exactly talked 2 the girls yet but just name the time
and place and place and we'll be there!!
Alissa :)"
She disconnected from the Internet and phoned Madeline
Lamont her best friend.
    "Hey Frick!" Lissa said cheerfully.
"Oh hi Fracky," Madeline said, "So whatcha doin'?"
"I've got to show you something really,
really important, so get your
butt over here!" Lisa said in an anxious tone of voice
and Maddi knew at once that it was as important as she
had said.
"Ok I'll get Tasha to drive me over right now."
    "Ok bye."
    "Bye."
"Click," Madeline and Alissa hung up the phone at the
same time.
Lissa connected again to the net and went back to see
if Nick had written her back yet. He had and again she
read it out loud:
"Hey Alissa, I'm glad that you got my e-mail so fast,
could you guys meet us at the Halifax International
Airport at 11:00 PM on the 23rd of August? Be
ready to sing.
Nick."
Just as she finished reading the doorbell rang and she
let Madeline in.
"So what's so important that you couldn't tell me over
the phone?"
Lissa pointed towards the computer screen "This," she
scrolled to the top of the e-mail and let her friend
read what was written.
Maddi's mouth dropped open as she realized exactly
what she was reading. "Omigod!" she said, "we've got to
call Tasha, Anna and Bone!"
    "Yea," Lissa agreed, "we should!"
The two girls called the other three, first Jessica or
better known to them as Jess or Bone, then Natasha (Tasha),
and then Brianna (Anna).
In no time at all the five girls agreed to meet at the
airport at 10:30 so that they wouldn't be late.
